The Qualia team

Meet the team

The artisans and staff who are the heart of Dharmalaya, joined by a skilled facilitation and support team, and our guest facilitators.

An intercultural collaboration, a decade in the making

The Foundations course is the result of a longstanding, evolving partnership between Qualia (India) and Adventure Works Australia — rooted in shared commitments to ethical, inclusive, and culturally grounded practice.

Over the past decade we've connected through international adventure therapy conferences and training forums, in ongoing intercultural dialogue around accessibility, ethics, and professional development. Since 2022, the partnership has supported cross-cultural learning and opened training access for Indian practitioners through scholarships to AWA's Foundations course in Tasmania.

From these shared experiences came the idea to co-adapt and offer the Foundations course in India — fostering cross-pollination and intercultural learning, and helping us see what may be universal and what is rooted in specific cultural contexts.

Guided by a shared commitment to collective liberation and care, and engaging in decolonial processes — internally, relationally, and systemically — ours is a partnership grounded in mutual respect, critical reflection, and reflexivity.

The Dharmalaya team

The team at Dharmalaya is at the heart of this offering. They host us with immense generosity and care, and bring a depth of wisdom that shapes the tone and spirit of the immersion. Their presence makes it possible for us to root this program in relationship with the land, the community, and the rhythms of everyday life.

From sharing stories and cultural traditions to preparing nourishing food, tending the fire, and guiding us through the forest, the Dharmalaya team supports us in ways both seen and unseen. They embody values of simplicity, sustainability, and interconnection, and offer a powerful example of what it means to live in deep relationship with place.
